FISHING REPORT 7/06/10
The warm weather is creating great fishing for the Dry fly and Buzzer angler at the moment. Leave you big lures at home and concentrate on small Dry patterns. Lots of fish moving on the surface all day and if you can find the pattern they are feeding on there is some great sport. Evening and morning are the best times of the day before the sun is to bright.
Three special fish caught this week. Nigel Tupman of Northallerton caught a stunning Rainbow of 17lb on a Black Buzzer fished on only 3lb leader. The fish led him a merry dance and took nearly 30 minutes to land. This fish was returned successfully to the lake. An excellent Brown Trout of 8lb was caught and returned by Dave Pearson of Darlington. Dave caught the big Brown on a Fry pattern fished in the margins of the Mill Lake. This is probably the largest Brown caught in the lakes and proves how rich the lakes are as this fish would have been stocked 2 years ago at 2lb. Jack Hudson of Aycliffe caught a 12lb Rainbow on an olive CDC, one of 8 fish he tempted with this fly.
As well as the trout the Perch have been caught in numbers up to 1lb and also a nice Roach of 1 ½ lb was caught this week
Evening tickets are now available from 4pm only £10
The best flies this week were Black Buzzers, Hawthorn, Klinkhammers, Diawl Bachs, Black Spider, Black gnats, CDC patterns
