FISHING REPORT 31/05/10
There has been some excellent sport this week on dry flies and probably some of the best fishing of the year. Abundant hatches of hawthorn flies has been the norm and small Black patterns or CDC patterns are catching a lot of fish. Presentation is important to make sure none of your leader is floating but once achieved can result in a lot of takes.
Two nice doubles have been caught this week. Neil Richardson of Newcastle caught a fin perfect 17lb Rainbow on a size 16 Black Midge. Peter Foster of Chilton landed a Rainbow of 12lbcaught using a Black Buzzer, this was one of 12 fish Peter caught on a selection of Buzzers. Regular West House angler Chris Clark caught 28 fish during a hectic session when the fish were obsessed with Hawthorn flies and any small Black Dry pattern seemed to do the business. William Thornton caught 15 during the same rise when at times the lakes seemed to be boiling with fish
Evening tickets are now available from 4pm only £10
The best flies this week were Black Buzzers, Hawthorn, Klinkhammers, Diawl Bachs, Black Spider, Black gnats, CDC patterns
