got to sharpley about 1.10, followed by Paul about 1.20, had a coffee, Paul had a strange event with 1 of those battery operated fly swatters LMFAO.
Anyway we had a coffee and tab with Davey, then up onto the Albert and Alice lake, on with dry flies for both of us and bang 2 rainbows for Paul, i changed to a stalking bug and still nowt, then i went onto lures and still nowt.
went for a coffee then onto the Doxford lake, canny windy so Paul went onto the Noose and i went onto the Cuthbert lake (killing lake), i had never had a fish from there so decided to give it a go, puts a yellow dancer on and bang, a nice rainbow just short of 3 lbs, then i headed to the Hangmans ( dry fly and nymph only) had a few missed takes, and lost 1,
Paul joined me then, i switched over to a light yellow and white damsel nymph, bang 3 out of 4 casts, then another 1.The scores are level now, 4-4,
Then it goes 5-4 to me,Paul gets 1 makes it 5-5, things go quiet so i changed to a pink and white nymph, pulling it along the surface and bang 6-5, 2 mins later Paul levels it 6-6
within 3 mins bang i have another 1 on, bringing it in and the fkr spits the fly, Paul says nearly 7-6 ha ha ha, a short while later fish on again, now its 7-6 to me, 10 mins later another fish on 8-6 to me, then they started rising but were taking nothing at all.Paul packed up to go home but i stayed on in the hope of another 2 to make my total for the day 10, but it was`nt to be.
red hot day, not much of a breeze at all til around 7pm ish.
Looking forward to next week now, so if anyone wants to join us you`s are more than welcome, you/we may not catch but will be assured of a good day anyway
All fish were around the 3 - 3 1/2 lb mark
