  • mission pike part 2 i think i need a bigger net

went pikeing again with me 2 boys hard work lost quite a bit of gear since i started fishing last monday this new adventure has probably cost me and my boys around £40 in lures broke my heart getting snagged with 2 £10 lures and not getting them back due to all of the crap people have thrown in the lake over the years, however i was rewarded with a fine double figure pike approx 11 to 12lbs totally engulfed my lure down it,s gob and bent the net in the process i wondered why the other lad tucker had a huge net well i just need a 20lb now so i hope to get that the next time 3rd time lucky i hope.

for big pike use big baits

if you want big pike use pop up dead baits ,or try floating tactics to lure that 20lber to you and if the fish is to big for the net ! use a glove and chin the fish out of the water.and there is a mag out and theres loads of tits from matt hayes {total freshwater or on digtal on quest channel 38 daily mon to friday 1700 hrs

Been pike fishing for a few years, my favorite method is lure fishing but I use soft plastic grubs which are a hell of a lot cheaper than crank baits and can be fished fairly snag free if you rig them texas style with american style worm hooks. My second favorite method is a deadbait under a float, I work these deadbait like you would a wobbled deadbait but the float keeps it clear of the bottom and snags, they can be worked slow or fast, left to sit around for a while, it's a very versitile method and offers the same advantages as lure fishing and deadbaiting combined. I've taken pike well over 20lbs from the river tees this way.

              Cheers
