  • loch Arthur scotland 24/04/10

Mick and myself had a trip away to loch Arthur in Scotland on sat,24/04/10,we set of from home around 4.30am and had a trouble free journey to the loch, we arrived at about 6.20am and had a look around for a spot to fish , with this being a smallish loch its fishing spots are ,to say the least, hard to find ,there is only two places to fish this loch ,so if they are taken then you will have to find an alternative ,however today we were in luck as one of the spots was available .
We got our gear set up and were not a moment to soon as another car pulled up.This happened a number of times over the next hour, so if you are going then be there early. We started fishing and ,as there was no wind we set up the course fishing gear ,did a bit of ground baiting, and we were fishing.
Nothing happened for quite a while , in fact nothing happened at all until 2.00pm when i had my first run , i landed a small jack of about 2.00lbs ,then all was quiet again ,we had nothing on the coarse rods all day ,not even a sniff,
as things were to quiet we decide to go home at 5.00pm ,would you believe it ,at 4.50pm micks alarm went off and he landed a fine 8.00lbs pike ,this fish had marks from spawning on it, and also two traces hanging from its mouth ,these were removed and the fish returned safely. It looks like they have spawned last week as the marks were not new, we decided, as you do, to give it an extra 15 mins to see if it picked up ,it didn't and so we left the loch at 5.30pm but the main thing is NO CRAY FISH ,that was a massive bonus for the loch -----Karl

that's why the pike are getting bigger and bigger in Loch Ken, they eat the blighters.
