  • father a 2 kids bared from foxpond

Hi had a cracking day at foxpond on easter sunday with my 8 and 12 year old lads. On a return visit on my own i was asked did i use barbed hooks on the previose visit as its barbless only including fishing with bait i said no then the scottish chap became very offensive saying yes i did and was i calling him a lier he became very offensive and quite angry as he produced a running leger rig for carp with worms on it this hook was barbed i expland my 12 year old just took a ready set up rod from my holdall and tried his first chuck fishing the bottem mine and my youngest sons rods had barbless hooks on we were on float and my yougest cant do it on his own the 12 year old had one chuck unaware of it being barbed and changed to a float set up anyway with a barbles hook as i set it up for him the same as me and my 8 year old.I tried to explane that the rig we left behind must have only been used for one chuck and that my son didnt relise. The man was having none of it and band 2 young boys and a farther from the lake for a simple mastake

my advice you got kids dont go there incase thay make a mistake

    thanks for reading
    kind regards
    (a very anoyed father)

I know that when i have my grandchildren out with me on a lake that has rules as the ones you describe ,i don't even set my gear up until i have checked their stuff is fine ,and also when i leave i also check all that i have used is accounted for and no litter is left ,as you left a baited rig ,and you have admitted it was your rig that was left ,i'm afraid the bailiff was within his rights to ban you from the fishery.
A lesson hear to be learned , don't leave used traces or rigs ,put them in your bag when not in use, that way it won't get left out and forgotten about, if you change a rig ,then the rig you were using must be put away, its as simple as that, we have all seen the pictures of what damage a left trace can do to the wildlife, the bailiff is only doing his job, i do feel sorry for the kids ,but i bet when you go to another fishery you don't make the same mistake ---Karl

Daz some people in authority (was the scottish chap ?)sometimes abuse it. Has this guy not got a supervisor you can write to. Surely if its a mistake - its a mistake. I would write to the owner.
          Mick.
At least you can put your side of your story across without some jobsworth having a go.
