    just a quick question are you able to fish for them with out a license if there in a tidal harbour

    Not sure - best advice I can give Try a salmon or seatrout forum if you don't get an answer here.

      even a mile out to sea your not supposed to take them

      now if you were fish for 'other things' and accidental 'caught' some, that's ok - but they have to be returned

        Like Mark say's if you hook 'em by accident then they have to go back!!!!!

          Thanks for the replys lads thought i would check will stick to watching them before they swim upstream was a couple of nice ones prob about 3lb and loads smaller ones.

            Here's a pic of my personal best sea trout, weighing in at 13lb, taken from the tidal section of the river Coquet last year 13th Sept 08.

            Yes I was licenced, before anyone asks.

                      heres me mate Bill Websters biggest sea trout, caught on a fly, in the tyne but not sure whereabouts, and yes he was and still is licenced for migratory fish
