FISHING REPORT 09/9/09
Some excellent fishing this week in the cooler weather conditions. Although breezy the water temperatures are cooling and the fish are becoming more active. Some excellent sport on the dry fly by drifting a Black CDC pattern or Hopper in the breeze even when there does not appear to be many fish rising this has been bringing plenty of fish to the surface.
Paul Chaytor a West House regular caught a nice fish of 9lb 6oz on an orange Blob but has also had lots of success drifting a pair of black Zonkers in the breeze. William Hamilton of Stokesley had a good day catching 12 fish in total including a nice rainbow of 16lb all fish falling to Buzzer patterns. Michael Swan of Stockton caught a Brown Trout of 4lb+ on a cats Whisker pattern the fish being returned to grow on. Peter Brown of Darlington and his 14 year old son David had a fabulous day landing 24 fish between the including a nice Chub of 3lb and Rainbows up to 7lb.
The best flies this week were Black Zonkers, Damsels, Crunchers,Black buzzers, Klinkhammers, Black Hoppers, Hares Ears and mini lures.
The lakes are now open until 8.300 pm on an evening and and evening ticket (4pm onwards) is available for £8.
