West House Trout Lakes | Welcome to West House Trout Lake
FISHING REPORT 18/8/09
Mixed fishing this week. The water temperatures still remain on the high side and with bright weather during the day the fishing is proving a challenge for some anglers. However early morning and late evening have seen some great fishing with good hatches of flies resulting in some excellent top of the water sport. Small black patterns ie CDC, Spiders have been producing lots of fish.
Two doubles this week. Peter Williams of Consett caught a nice Rainbow of 13lb on Black Spider size 18 fished under overhanging bushes in horseshoe lake, one of 6 fish he caught on the same fly during an evening session. David Healey of Winlaton, Gateshead landed a rainbow of 11lb caught on a Hothead Damsel pattern in the Mill Lake. In the warmer conditions the pegs around the inlet in Mill lake have been fishing very well. William Hardy took 12 fish here on a black Buzzer and Nigel harrison 14 on a mixture of Buzzers.
The best flies this week were Diawl Bach’s, Damsels, Crunchers, Invicta, Klinkhammers, Black Hoppers, Hares Ears and mini lures.
The lakes are now open until 8.300 pm on an evening and and evening ticket (4pm onwards) is available for £8.
