  • Waskerley Still Fishing Its Socks Off

The lake still proves to be the best value-for-money venue in the area.

The generous stocking policy throughout the season has seen large quantities of good 'Browns' falling to both Day-Ticket holders and Members alike.

Small black flies (sometimes with a fluorescent tag) continue to do the biz.

D.T's are still £10 for a two fish bag with unlimited catch and return for fly anglers.

    Tight lines,

It's actually water being pumped in from the Kielder pipeline to maintain the level as it is being drawn-off to service the Consett area.

Doesn't affect the fishing at all, BUT the Easterly winds do!

When the wind's from the East, the fish bite least - It's true up there.

Went up Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours. Wind still from the East and, according to the forcast, it will be for most of the week.

Struggled like hell and just managed one fish (mind it was a goodun, around 3 pound)

Easterlies really are bad news up there. When the wind's from the West, the fish bite best! True, Very True.

                where is it?

Aye, sorry again, I forgot to tell you how to get there.

Once you pass The Moorcock Pub about four miles West of Consett, keep your eyes open on the left.

Ignore the sign that says 'Waskerley' and continue for a mile or so until you see a sign the says 'Hawkburn' and 'Waskerley Way' - thats your turn-off for the lake.

Went up Tuesday, still with the Easterly breeze on.

Managed four out on size fourteen B&P Spiders with a green or orange fluor. tag.

There was only two other rods on. Lovely day!

                              Wheyaye Mick,

A blank at Wask. is ownly half the price of a blank at Derwent, plus it's a bonnier place!

                              Cheors,
