  • Derwent reservoir 21/4/09

Fished Derwent today fro 0800 to 1800 hours. The north shaw other than the bay of plenty was unfishable due to the wind. Went right round the reservoir to the power bait area and was disgusted to see how much power bait was scattered all over - no fish being caught.
Went back to the bay of plenty and ended up with three rainbows all about 1.5 lb.
Reading the returns sheet there were only three limit bags with most anglers having one or two fish. At least twenty anglers blanked.
In my opinion it is about time this fishery was returned to fly only. Northumbrian water are exploiting anglers and just trying to take as much money as possible out of our pockets.
Spoke to one of the wardens who said that 800 fish were stocked last Thursday. It doesent take a genius to work out how many anglers are fishing and what fish have been taken. Come on Northumbrian water get your hands in your pocket and stock the reservoir properly.

The last couple of times over easter i have took my son we fished pow hill with power bait and worm only got a couple of small brownies. I was disappointed for the lad-thought we might have got a couple decent rainbows.
Makes you think about the stocks.
I have also noticed power bait washed up in the bay of plenty.

Mick--i,ll be there tomorrow will let you know how i do. Probs try the credit cruncher 2:30 onwards.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.
