FISHING REPORT 13/4/09
Bright warm weather saw plenty of anglers at West house catching plenty of fish. When the weather was overcast there was some fantastic action on the surface with buzzers and CDC patterns taking the bulk of the fish the lakes being alive with rising fish , but when it got bright the fish moved down and Black lures started accounting for numbers of fish
West House regular Paul Chaytor has really got the measure of the fish landeing over 12 fish on each of his 3 visits this week.
Nigel Pearson of Thirsk on his first visit to the lakes caught 18 fish all on Black buzzers, the best weighing 15lb including a Brown estimated at 5lb ( a stunning butter coloured fish , big spots and fully finned estimated to have been in the lakes 2+ years).
John Scott of Whitley Bay caught 9 fish on Buzzer patterns and his partner Jane landed 11 fish including one of 12lb much to John's dismay. Stephen Marron came for the eveing session and caught 12 Rainbows on small Olive dries.
Peter Johnson of Crook had another excellent day landing 12 fish including a Brown of 41/2lb most of the fish being caught on a size 12 black Buzzer. Anthony Wainwright caught a nice Rainbow of 16lb one of 12 fish he caught on dries and small patterns. William Richardson of Chester le Street caugh a Rainbow of 14lb on a cats Whisker and lost another at the net estimated to be larger.
The lakes are now open until 8pm on an evening and and evening ticket is availablefor £8.
