Had a go with the SK4 up at Derwent Reservoir shop yesterday. It really is an excellent casting rod. Think they sell for just over a ton up there-plus you get a free days fishing-so in effect its £80. And you get the Sonic tube.I would like one of these.
I like the thumb groove when you hold the cork-it was nice to actually have a go casting with a line.
Tried the Greys 9-6" WF 6-7 GRXI and did not think it was out special.
Sonic also has a lifetime guarantee.
      Mick.

        sonik

I bought a Sonik SK4 7/8 fly rod, matching reel and line and find them great to use. I have had others in the past but this seems better. If you buy anything from them you get a point for every £10 pound you spend and you get 5 if you leave a testimonial so i am about to get a spare spool for only a few quid. Cant beat that

Don't know anything about 'Sonic' or any of the 'Newcomers' to the tackle-scene.

They may be excellent products but as yet, haven't been proven by the 'test of time'

In the decades that I've been fishing 'the fly', I've been through the whole gambit of manufacturers and, for the last ten years or so, I've stuck with 'Orvis'. They may be 'Yanks' and some people say 'overpriced' but the rods have the sweetest action I've come accross, AND their 'no quibble' lifetime guarantee cannot be faulted. (I know 'cos I've cashed in on it twice in the recent past).

For my money, pounds-for-pounds, (or dollars-for-dollars) they're better than 'Hardy'

          Just a thought!

Just goes to prove that what's sweet for some is savoury for others. I've a Beulah, a Sonik and a Shakespeare Odyssey and have to say I find the Sonik the easiest to use. I think the Odyssey is the best value for money rod I own though.

Bought the sk4 wf 7-8 9 and 1/2 feet last week from the reservoir. Used it all day but found it was very stiff.
Thought about getting the sk3 wf 7-8 9 and 1/2 feet for last few days but just swopped the SK4 for a Greys. Same size and wf and price.
Bit dismayed when i took off the plastic packaging on the base of the rod MADE IN CHINA.?. Whats all that about.
Mick-----am i gonna regret not getting the sk3 which was agood £30 cheaper.
