West House Fishing Report 19/01/09
Another good turnout for this weekends heat of the West House Winter League series. The weather was relativly kind this time with light winds and bright conditions on the morning with the wind getting steadily stronger by the afternoon.
Ryan Matthews made a blistering start on his first peg catching a fish on his first cast, unfortunatly it turned out to be a Perch and not countable but he did manage to land two trout on this peg and lost two others. Others also had a fast start including regular Ernie Craster landing 3 on his first peg and Peter Crowe, Kevin Dinning and Terry Sharp also landing 2 fish quickly. By lunchtime Ernie was on 5 fish, Ryan on 4 and Trevor Wards and Terry Sharp on 3.
During the afternoon sesion the fish were shoaled up in one corner of the lake and a number of anglers made the most of this as they passed by with one peg producing over 15 fish for different anglers. Peter Crowe caught steadily to finish on 8 and win the match with Ernie faltering but still finishing with 6 for 3rd place. Terry Sharp was consistent and finished with 7 for 2nd place. Kevin Dinning hooked but lost a number of fish but managed 4th place with his total of 5
Last chance to qualify is this Saturday 24th January for a crack at the £500 first prize in the final
