FISHING REPORT 7/12/08
4th leg of the Winter League series took place this Saturday. We were lucky with the weather with a slight thaw enabling the competition to take place on the Mill Lake. Conditions were good - cold, bright with only a slight breeze. Thanks to all of the 23 anglers who turned up to make it an excellent competition catching a total of 69 fish a rod average of 3 per angler !
Fish were caught very quickly with 12 landed in the first 30 minutes . Most fish were taken in the North bay with Jim Tuck and Terry Sharp off to a flying start both landing and losing plenty of fish in the opening sessions. Terry caught 5 but hooked and failed to land another 9 fish on his second peg, most of his fish were caught on a Cats Whisker fished slowly on a Slow Intermediate line. At the Southern end of the lake the only angler making an impression was Ernie Craster who caught 3 fish on his opening pegs.
At the end of the morning session the anglers that had fished through the North Bay had all caught fish withTerry Sharp on 8, Jim Tuck on 5 Dean Heldey on 5 and Bill King on 4. The anglers yet to fish the Northern Bay were all now on catch up but after the lunchbreak the fish had scattered making it difficult to catch the leaders. Terry Sharp still managed to catch odd fish during the afternoon to finish on a total of 11 his only real challenger being Chris Micallef who picked up odd fish all day to finish on 8 Ernie Craster and Bill King landed odd fish to fill the minor places. Paul Fenney finished on only 2 fish but one was a bonus Rainbow estimated between 13 - 15lb.
