  • bait fishing for trout

    Morning all

Just trying to get my eldest boy into fishing - he's a little young and clumsy to learn to fly fish so I'd like to get some bait fishing sessoins for trout under his belt. Any tips on lakes that allow bait fishing in Northumberland or Durham. Also any other tips generally appreciated - I'm a sea angler and haven't done much game or freshwater fishing myself.

    Cheers

hi may be too far for you but there is a small pond near the angel of the north. It is called fox hole pond . It is only small but well looked after and stocked .You can bait fish and use a fly , they even supply all the gear . Great place to start out

Higham Lakes just north of Ponteland allow bait fishing for trout on 1 of their lake but check their website for further info. Derwent, Fontburn and Kielder reservoirs allow bait fishing and spinning for trout. Good luck!
