FISHING REPORT 30/9/08
Lovely weather this last week brought out the anglers and the fish in larger numbers than of late. There was some excellent dry fly action throughout the nicve days on small CDC patterns or Daddy's. If nothing has been showing on the surface a selection of lurs have been producing fish including Zonkers, Cats and Fritz's. Trout have now been spotted feeing in the margins on the abundance of Fry present in the lakes.
A Mr Leck of Billimgham caught and landed a beautiful rainbow of 15lb captured on a White Lure in the margins, this was his best evver fish. West House regular Joe Brown from Bedlington had a brilliant day landing approx 20 fish on small CDC patterns or Dawl Bachs. Joe returned later in the week and again ended up with over 12 fish to the net. Peter Williamson of Crook caught a Rainbow of 12lb as well as 7 other fish all of the fish tempted by his sunken Daddy.
After extensive work at West House I am happy to report that all weed has been removed from the lakes and all pegs are once again fishable. The West House winter league flyfishing competitions will be starting at the end of October and a full fixture list will be published soon.
Flies of the week : Olive Zonker, Black Spider, Shipmans, Daddy's, Bloodworms
