FISHING REPORT W/E 19/08/08
The lakes are starting to clear again and we are back on to summer fishing with small natural flies accounting for the bulk of the catches. Working very well at the moment is a Hares Ear, or Dawl Bach fished very slowly just under the surface.
The rules at West House have been amended slightly to allow anglers to use TWO flies instead of one and this will help the presentation of these small natural patterns.
Simon Buckley of Thirsk used the Dawl Bach to devastating effect landing 14 fish in a hectic 4 hour evening session, his best fish estimated at 9lb. Edward Peterson of Yarm had a good day catching 4 fish in total including a rainbow of 15lb 6oz. His successful method was to drift a Hares Ear under the surface during a very windy session.
Peter Crowe Jnr of Hartlepool caught 6 fish but the one that counted was the Tagged Fish which landed Peter a nice bonus of £103 for his efforts. A new tagged fish has now been introduced with an initial value of £75
Flies of the week :- Shuttlecock Emergers, Shipmans, Hares Ear, Black or Olive buzzers. Black Spinner, Montana, Fritz, Pheasant Tail Nymphs, Cats Whisker
