Going up to felton fence fishery on saturday, never fished there before so does anyone have any info about the place? what tactics, bait needed and which pond to fish. Also are you allowed to use a keepnet? thanx

It's just up the road from where I live , I used to fish there years ago before the angling club took it over , I was up there earlier in the year and spoke to the guy who owns and runs it now . He seems a canny bloke and said if I was there early to fish he would come round sometime during the day to get payment . There are 3 or 4 ponds , one on the way in on the left used to hold huge carp but he says they are gone now , biggest fish might make doubles , also lots of small roach and some good tench in there (bit late in the year for them though)
The lakes at the bottom end are good all round lakes with a mixed bag in all of them , the bottom one is the deepest and holds bream , carp and the usual roach and perch , the others are not so deep and don't have the bream.
I used to like to fish the bottom two lakes , always turned up a decent carp or two (7lb or so) and always had an enjoyable day out there (very relaxing)
I'd take bread , maggots , worms, sweetcorn and luncheon meat , if the ducks are away chuck a few bits of bread out and see if anything comes up for it
I'm sure he said a keepnet was o.k other than for the larger carp , but don't take my word for it , and again I'm pretty sure he said ground bait had to be kept to a minimum , but they aren't huge lakes so a tiny bit of groundbait and loose feeding should get some fish in your swim.
I'm addicted to boat fishing for cod these days , but if the weather is as bad as it's been lately I might just have a look up there myself this weekend.
