FISHING REPORT W/E 19/08/08
This wet weather is making a mockery of summer fishing. The constant heavy rain is colouring all the lakes and changing the character of the fishing. When the water and weather clears there has been some excellent dry fly fishing but the constant heavy rains put the fish down and better results have come to lure fishing such as Cats Whisker, Fritz’s or Montanas.
Peter Williamson of Bishop Auckland caught 9 fish during torrential rain. His fish were all caught on a Cats Whisker of White Lure fished slow and deep. John Bainbridge landed 5 fish including a nice rainbow of 10lb 4oz and a Blue of 6lb, all the fish falling to a Hairs Ear CDC pattern drifted in the breeze. William Johnson after landing a Brown of 2lb two weeks ago repeated his feat landing 2 Browns of 3 and 4lb in a total bag of 7 fish most caught on a Montana pattern.
Flies of the week :- Shuttlecock Emergers, Shipmans, Hares Ear, Black or Olive buzzers. Black Spinner, Montana, Fritz, Pheasant Tail Nymphs, Cats Whisker
