  • Brown Trout.

Hello lads. Just grilled my pound and half Brown Trout which i caught in the Derwent river at Consett the other day . Tasted lovely .

So much for them tasting "earthy".

    river trout versus stillwater stockies!

pound and a half is a cracking big fish for the derwent, well done that man

    Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

I was brought up on wild brownies and linnets eggs cos me mam had no food except for powdered beef stroganoff

You needed a bike to catch them tho

I caught the big un on worm. Rules say you must use the fly rod and reel etc. So it was case of putting on one of them floating bite indicators on my 4 Foot trace and a wriggly worm on the trout hook.
The area i fished was stocked a few months ago so it was probs a survivor from that. The fish i put back looked over a pound in wieght.

go to a pet shop and buy some grass hoppers used for feeding reptiles

size 10 hook and some super glue and away you go

saves the "worm not being a fly / lure" argument and they float
