  • Stonebridge Today

Wet a line at Stonebridge today under very trying conditions, Red hot weather, clear sky, no or not very much ripple on the water.
Managed one fish all session and probably tried about every pattern in my bag.
The guy next to me caught and killed his first fish, later in the day he caught another one and after removing weed etc duly let the fish go on its way.
Very nice one might say, BUT , a yellow tag was very visual as the fish cocked its ar$e and said thank you very much.
£178 bounty went swimming down the Swannie.

    Who said fishing is fun.

Seddo what do you do with a tagged fish. I take it you cannot kill it.

    Cheers Mick

How do you claim the cash.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.

      Hi Mick,
At Stonebridge you pay £1 to enter the tagged fish sweep,
if you happen to catch the fish that is tagged you keep it in your net and the guy running the fishery checks your fish and verifies it is tagged.
Once this is done you release the fish to fight another day and you duly collect the sum of money that is in the pot.
Sharpley also runs a tagged fish sweep and it is not unusual for the pot to go into hundreds of pounds, its always worth a quid, BUT, always ensure you check your fish before release.

      Cheers

Spot on mate, it is possible some fisheries have there fish tagged in different area's ie maybe on the dorsal fin or maybe in the tail area.
Best bet , check your fish thoroughly before release, better safe than rewing the cost of a tagged fish being mistakenly returned.

Big money for tagged fish at Sharpley I used to see

              £500 cash for each fish.
And theres more than one fish in at a time, dont quote me but i think there are at least 5 fish in various lakes at the moment all worth £500 each.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !
