  • Derwent resevoir.

Had a day at Derwent today. Massive blanker. Not even a bite. Used fly rod with orange frizz. Black frizz, dawsons olive and onther lures. All no go.
Tried couple of flys again zilch.
Also fished using power bait on me other rod in between fly. Again nowt .
Used worm on the bottom and on float.
    Gave up at 6:30 pm.
Never had nowt before when at the resevoir.

My mate at work was telling me about the reasons i may have had a blanker.
When the water warms up the fish go out further and sink to the bottom!
He recommended ground baiting or using a feeder. He also mentioned using maggots.
I don,t think any of this is not allowed so has anyone else used this method?.
Saw Matt Hayes on tv programme once were he and his mate Mick ground baited a wide area and also used a drop feeder. This was marked by a float which looked like a bomb. They absolutly hammered the fish.
Maybe i,m getting to far out of my league here.

Next cod season i fancy a slosh 300 or mag 525 and Diawa beachcaster. Should buy them now and take them up.Bet i,d reach the fish then.

One of the fish i did see caught was funnily enough a long way out and caught on a float.

      Mick.
