Tees at Yarm free fishin but gets very busy this time of year.
Plenty of other water on the tees as well but you would have to check ticket availabilty.
Pond at Escomb ive heard of but never fished. not the wadsworth fishery tho its the big lake beside them. Look on google earth you will see what im on about.
Hope this helps
Cheers

QE II AT Ashington, has some big girls in to over 20lb, membership for the year is around about £50 for your 1st year and £30 odd after, it also gives you access to other lakes including Killingworth, which has pike in the small lake. or you can get day tickets from Billys and anglers united.
Brasside complex at Durham has pike, both the east & west lake, you have to join durham anglers club.
As above the big pond at escomb has some nice pike in to, other than that theres the river stretches what im yet to fish so cant help out on that one

Have heard of them being caught on the Durham free stretch but only rumour never seen any evidence of any when ive fished it in winter but have found a few dead over the years higher up stream in my local club waters. Plenty of ponds further up that had them in been flooded so has to be some in at some point.
Willington club have a pond at jubilee bank that they use to do day tickets on

It was taken on a Salmon fly of all things. The bottom end of the free stretch and Kepier pool held quite a few,but most of these were killed by ignorant anglers.
I know of a 17lb fish being caught in the Wall pool below the foot bridge earlier this year, and i have had 2 salmon flies bitten off there this season.
The big pools in the woods below Durham will probably still hold some Pike as they are very rarely fished by anyone now..

Yeah great shame that a lot of people dont realise they are a realy delicate fish and need a lot of care when being handled and released.
28lb crackin fish bet that was fun on a fly rod glad you could confirm they were there the stories I heard were always a mate of a mate of a mate had one once lol

There is a stretch at Yarm that is free and holds some nice fish.
A lot of stretches are club waters, this will give you an idea of the clubs in the area.
