  • Anothert sunday with the fluff

Went up to Caistron with a mate for a little 4 hour session.

The conditions were perfect when we got there, but as soon as we stepped foot on the boat the wind picked up

Anyway first cast in with a lovely orange fluffy thing and I had a take
Give me the run around for a couple of mins and then spat the hook flicked it's tail and said goodbye

This happened about 3 or 4 times until my mate hooked onto one which he landed

It looked to be about 2 3/4 lb

No sooner than it was dispatched and bang, had one on.
Thought to meself, this aint getting away this time

After a bit of a tussle, I got it in the net.
Weighing in at 3lb, I was chuffed.

It all went quiet for a bit, until my mate got himself another about 1/2hr before we left.
Again a lovely fish, a bit bigger than his first

All too soon our time was up, not before i hooked one last fish.

It shot off like a bullet, me line jammed on me reel, it jump 2ft in the air, spat the hook and mooned me on it's way back into the water

Ah well at least I got one

    Cheers

    Tony

Cracking interpretation of your day's fishing Tony.

I can just see the fish "mooning" magic.

      Seddo,

I,ll never forget when one of those rainbows did that to me. I was using the orange fritz as recommended by guys on the forum. When bang the rod went over. Now i used all of my five minutes fly fishing experience to tackle this fish which was a big un. There was just one thing i did not expect and that was for the fish to jump clear out of the water. It looked superb with all of its colouring and then it was off. The orange fritz coming back on its own.

I also had knocks under the water but did not see the fish. Makes the fly fishing more fun.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.

One thing you still have to look forward to Mick, landing your first really big fish. The take is great but after a few heart flutters and it is landed, well, what can one say. Magic.
