Had my first visit to Lockwood today,
I can see why they were voted Trout fishery of the year in 2006,
They must have a excellent stocking policy, ( Fish all over the lake), I fished for eight hours could have stayed until dusk, but my mate had enough,
    ( softy ),
I had thirteen fish, four kept and nine returned safely,
Most fish were caught on a Straggle Damsel that i Tye myself and buzzers with a hackle tyed in so they can be fished on the move.
Picture shows two five pound Rainbows and one four pound Brownie that i don't normally take but it had inhaled the Damsel and was bleeding heavy.

Catch return for week ending 12th May 2007
              180 Anglers caught 592 fish: - 562 rainbows to 11lb and 30 browns to 5lb

188 Rainbows were kept at an average weight of 2lb 9oz

              Rod average 3.8

Bank and boat anglers were among the fish although the boats were more consistent.
John McGarrell caught 40 on two visits on lures from the dam and the moorside, Andrew Grabham had 10 from the Holy bush on Damsels, Colin Green Caught 15 in 3hours from the top moorside block on a mini Jack Frost, M Breele kept 4 for 14lb 8oz from the dam. G Stockton had 23 from the bank keeping 4 for 11lb 12oz
Boat anglers had some excellent sport. J Callaghan caught 13 keeping 4 for 15lb 8oz, which included a cracking 4lb brown, R Barron caught 27 on a variety of methods, Colin Lynas caught 22 on the lynas buzzer (Dawson’s Nomad) and A and B Chapman had 32 fish over two days keeping 16 for 38lb on Damsel. Mrs Olive Murray caught the best fish of the week at 11lb from a boat on size 14 CDC Shuttle Cock.

With fish spread all over the lake and rising freely anglers can expect some good sport. Expect Hawthorns to living things up any time now. Anglers are reminded that floating patterns fished on any sinking line are only allowed for fish that are to be kept and not for catch & release.

We will once again be holding the very popular Lockwood Open day anglers can use the £11 one fish with catch & release permit for the full day all other permits will still be available for those who want to keep more fish, Free buffet will be provided at 4.30.
Rodger Beck will be on the Hardy Greys stand to give help and demonstrate equipment. Hardy Greys will be showing off their equipment including Fishpond storage and accessories. They are also providing a prize for a free raffled, to be drawn at 4.30 on the day. The Cleveland branch of the Salmon & Trout Association will be attending and will be demonstrating fly tying.

Stocking this week with 230 rainbows and browns from 2lb to 6lb.
