Well went up today at 9:30 am. Hit a blue trout on first cast using power bait on the bottom.
Two lads from the water authority then turned up checking fresh water licence and pass for the day.
Kept alternating between ledgering and then using the fly gear.
I put on one of the orange fritz things. Another guy was fishing next to me. He was very experienced. Some good advice gleaned.
Put other fly on line small black thing.
Kept alternating the fritz for a Damsel. No luck.
Caught another blue trout and three lovely rainbow on the ledger. One rainbow just short of three pound.
Kept trying the fly about 7 pm something grabbed at the flys. Bingo i thought bringing the rod back. Then it was gone. I remembered from the forum you do not strike.When i got the line in black fly had gone. Felt like a good fish-heavy.
Gave up at 7:30 pm. The doors were locked on the shop and a box placed outside for anglers to put in return slip with fish caught.
Is this because the nights are now stretching out and you can finish at dusk rather than 8 pm.
Somewhere in that resevoir is a trout with my name on and it will be caught using my fly gear.
