  • Coldingham Loch

Had a day fishing catch and release at Coldingham today with very little success.
Shared a boat with my mate Sheppie and only managed to capture 3 fish during the session. Tried various fly's and managed 2 on buzzers and one on a Dinky Do, overall a very trying day.
It was really cold and hardly any fish showed on the top, tried a lure or two and never got an offer, tried CDC and other top of the water patterns.

Coldingham Loch is situated near Eyemouth and it has spectacular scenery. The owners have a cracking hut for your convenience with free Tea, coffee etc and a microwave if you need to heat up some goodies.

Will definately give this fishery another visit later in the summer.

have been fishing coldingham for years often go up and stay in the lodge was good friends with the previous owners Tina and dr ted wise who own the fishery across the road from the entrance to coldingham. found that when its cold and a bit breezy fish the bank were the wind is blowing on to and have always had success but you have to fish pretty deep. i never fish out of the boats always fish the bank sometimes on a night small black flies hatch off and its like clouds coming off the water and the trout go ballistic but trying to catch them is another matter they will take nothing.have caught and returned wild brown trout to 6lb. some times when its calm drifting small black buzzers does the trick with explosive takes sometimes stripping you down to the backing line.a few of the locals have said that the standard of fish has dropped since it was took over but all in all one of my favourite fisheries

Fishman, I have read your thread and taken all in what you have said, I may try a split session next time ie Half day in boat and half day on the bank.
I presume chesties will be the order of the day for the bank fishing.

I also used to fish this place when Ted Wise was the owner, cracking guy, and cracking quality fish. I will reserve my judgement on the new owners performance until I have fished it a few more times, it will take a few trips to get a fair assessment how the loch is producing.

Thanks for the info mate and good luck on your fishing trips.
