  • Carp/Pike Rod

    Just a follow on from the Spinning rod advice thread in Shore fishing,did'nt want to hi-jack it.
    Whats the difference between a Carp Rod and a Pike Rod ?,I asked in a local tackle dealer and the lad was honest and said "not alot really but I'm not really into either form of fishing" he could of filled me full of bull so I respect his answer.?
    any idea's

    Sorry can't help you there mate.
    I bought a carp rod at Greys sale and use it for spinning and flattie bashing, bit of a stiff action but it does the business no problem.
    Pike rods, don't have a clue.

      I've now had 3 greys carp rods, 1 from the sale and 2 from the shop, all three have exploded! Only rods I've ever had snap on me, haven't even bothered taking them back this time, don't see the point. Spinning for pollock, fish on, apply some pressure and ping! shattered half way down the tip section

        I'm pleased you posted that info Mark I will carry a spare rod in the future as I would hate to spoil a days fishing due to a rods bad performance.
        Uptil now I have had no bother but its best to be prepared.
