Got there about 7am. A south african lad spoke to us, his first ever time flyfishing. Me being the bloke I am, showed him what to use, and spent 20 mins trying to teach him to cast, a genuinely nice lad.
Anyway, he just got on with it, and enjoyed himself. I said, If you get a fish, let it run f it wants to, dont try and stop it, just take your time. he said, I wont worry about that, its my first time, i just want to learn a bit.
you guessed it. he hooked a fish, about 2 pm. and tried to stop it. It snapped his line. The lad near him who went over with the net, estaimated it....at over 15 lb. his FIRST ever trout on a fly. He was almost in shock, gutted, but he said the adrenalin rush was great. He is well and truly hooked.
Now then, I Blanked. I tried seamless stainless steel rings on my droppers. DONT. they are nothing but knot magnets.
To top it all, my orvis western snapped.
Went out last night and got bladdered.
