Id disagree with it. States to loop strong line round the gape, press the eye to the flesh, tell him youll count to five, and pull it out on three. barb, flesh and all.

Id disagree. I took one out of AndyN's hand at Sharpley, being a plumber his skin s like leather. Forced the point up through his skin, nipped off the barb, and reversed it. eezy peezy. Miserable get wouldnt let me video it for youtube. titter titter....
Befor anyone points out Sharpley is a barbless venue, it was a fly loose in his pocket that did the damage.

I totally agree with your action on hook removal as long as the hook is not bedded too deeply. Using the other method you may end up with a pair of Boll***s on the end of the line.

I would never dream of pulling a barb of any size through someones hand, or any other part of their body for that matter. Must agree Paul and seddo, could leave a nasty mess.

If you go off to hospital to get it removed they would one of the two ways Hiram has mentioned.
The method they would choose to use would depend on the size of hook.

If it were a hook used in freshawater fishing then i would use the method Hiram disagreed with. it is by far the quickest, less painful and easiest method of hook removal.

i pulled a treble hook out of brih's ear in whithorn
i said count to 3 and i yanked it out on 2
ive got a photo somewhere(hehehe)
and i pulled a 6/0 o'shaugnessy out of berts staffy bull terrior
i cut the hook in half and pulled it straight through
boy did it yelp
