Is the sluice (up towards Holywell Dene) free to fish with just a license needed?

There are loads of brownies, seen some that look about a pound. So it could be worth fishing, especialy if its a free stretch of water. You can see them jumping near the bridge just off the beehive most evenings.

I’ve seen a few coarse fish moving around there but the water looks too mucky to hold brownies. If it did, everyone would be after them.

I think it's origine is big waters at seaton burn which is full of various species so some must make their way downstream through dudley, seghill, delaval and holywell. I'd be surprised if there wasn't coarse fish in as well as game fish
