CLOSED SEASON ??

Does anybody know WHY there\'s no \"closed season\" regarding sea angling?
Surely one way of helping to maintain (if not improve upon) existing North Sea fish stocks is to have a block on fishing for specific species during their breeding season.
With all the recent hoo-ha on declining cod stocks, why is it still possible to buy cod roe in fish mongers??
Where\'s the logic in eating the eggs of the very fish we are trying to protect..........or am I being a bit dim ????

often wondered myself , more than likely cos there is no licence /to vast an area to patrol/ and who would walk to the fourth bay if they seen lamps, on a freezing winters night to \"check if someone was fishing \" if there was a \"open/closed\" season

It would be great if it could be implemented ,especially if it applied to commercial vessels ,although the impact on their livelyhood would be disasterous .
