For some time anglers have been calling for more representation.
Now there is an opportunity for a number of anglers to serve on the Sea Fisheries Committees that manage our inshore waters, out to six miles.
See: http://www.anglers-net.co.uk/sacn/latest/index.php?view=225
\"Sea Fisheries Committee generally meet four times a year and may have sub-committee meetings which members are also expected to attend. Members appointed by the Secretary of State may claim travelling and subsistence expenses from the Clerk of the Committee, in accordance with local authority rules.\"
If you feel that you could make a contribution to the work of the SFCs as an angler, you should apply (and/or if you know someone who could, get them to apply).
SACN/NFSA/BASS are working together to try to put together a list of people that they will jointly nominate, so if you would like to take this route, please send a short relevant CV with your contact details to FishSense@aol.com.
Lets see if we can get anglers onto all 12 SFCs to represent our interests in what will probably be interesting times.
