  • Today\'s Telegraph

I hope that many of you have seen the article inT oday\'s Telegraph (Saturday October 2nd 2004), written by Charles Clover.

The Telegraph is read by some very influential people, so the impact of this article should not be underestimated.

Nor should any letters, following the article that are subsequently published.

What would be very useful at this stage is some well thought out letters, aimed at the Telegraph readership (including many influential politicians) praising the article, pushing the case for Recreational Sea Angling further, and praising the actions of Ben Bradshaw in being prepared to be proactive in tackling the fundamental issues that are needed to develop our fishstocks for Best Value use for all of the population, including Recreational Sea Anglers.

You can email your thoughts to dtletters@telegraph.co.uk

    fax them to 020 7538 6455

    telephone 020 7538 5000

or write to Letters to the Editor, 1 Canada Square, London E14 5DT.

Once you\'ve done that, please also write to

    Ben Bradshaw MP,
    The House of Commons,
    Westminster,
    London SW1 OED

praising the moves he has undertaken to protect the UK bass stock against the pair trawlers, his recognition of the value of the Recreational Sea Angling Sector, his determination to deliver a much fairer deal to the country\'s 1 to 2 million sea anglers, and his commitment to protect the marine environment for this and future generations in the face of an archaic fishery management system.

Some momentum is being built up along many avenues now, let\'s make it unstoppable.

A very good article I have to say (even though it was read lying on my bed in Nice on Sunday morning after the local derby). Well worth a look for anyone who hasn\'t seen it.
