  • Catch Report "Grace" 19/05/13

We nearly cancelled our Sunday fishing as we assumed Saturdays North wind and torrential rain would put pay to any chance of a productive day. After much deliberation we agreed to give it try and half expected to be back home early. We decided the water would be too dirty on the rough ground so we headed out to approximately 7 miles and fished the local wrecks. We picked up a few reasonable fish but it was hard going and the visibility was very poor. We eventually came into the rough ground off Blyth and found the water to be a lot cleaner than we had first anticipated. The drift was very slow with wind against tide but the fish were being landed on a regular basis with green twintails doing the business yet again. Any fish that were just lip hooked or easily unhooked were returned and we kept about half a dozen each for the freezer. We landed about fifty Cod mostly between 2lb to 4lb with the biggest of the day being 7lb which was caught late in the day by yours truly and took the sweep money much to the disappointment of Davy S who had been winning to that point with a Ling of 6lb. A good day was had and well pleased that we were not put off by Saturdays foul weather.

It is a shame we had that NE sea and then a flood of fresh water but you still found the fish and in good numbers. Guess it justs mean burning abit more juice to get clear of the fresh water and the silt from the big sea.

May see you out there Wed/Thr

Well done on a good haul and putting them back for next time Tony. Grace is on form at the minute finding the fish.
I saw a couple of boats fishing a lumpy looking sea around the can, as the mist lifted a little on Sunday afternoon. Who dares won….
