Well after spending the previous day down Whitby and getting the taste for fishing, a quick check on the weather when i got back had me texting a couple mates to see if they wished a short trip on Sunday.
Read through the reports on here and spoke to a few about how they faired, so it was safe to say the bar was lowered about as low as you dare lower it i.e a fish each any species and size
Anyway we set off about 8.15am with no wind and a nice sea with just a little roll from the north east, sun popping its head out, chilly but warming all the time. The plan was to fish a couple of rough ground marks close in,l hea dup St Marrys to the can, try the kelp beds then hit 4-5 wrecks upto 5 mile out.
Heading up to the can
No luck around the rough ground marks but the sun was out and the layers of clothing reducing, welcomed chat with Arthur on Lazy Daze before heading to a couple of wrecks.
Fished 6 wrecks, some with a good drift and some wizzing past as the tide had changed, plugged away with crab, mackerel, squid, blacks, ragworm and hope but this only resulted in 3 bites between us all day.
So total for the day 6 hours x3 people = no fish...happy to say never spoke to anyone who had fished the wrecks that landed anything from the north.
BUT.......life is starting to show, we seen a seal, 2 porpoise and loads of sea birds ...so things are improving.
We set off for home happy the first real run out was under the belt face alittle red from the sun and abit of fresh air...i can live with maybe one more trip like that then i want FISH
