I had a few hours fishing at St Mary’s can this afternoon. Wind and tide made for a fast drift so the new anchor was soon tried out in 33ft of dirty coloured water. Using a two hook rig baited with lug and squid took the only codling of the day, a 3 pounder taken on both hooks; even the whiting were in hiding. No challenge to the HSF leader board here - for today at least.

Back at the marina the story was the same from the other boats coming in. The marina and this season’s fishing coming to life, just slowly for now.
