  • Catch report "Grace" 15/5/19

After a cracking Tuesday on Red Mist when we landed and returned most of 40+ fish, we took the opportunity to fish again on Wednesday when this time it was "Grace's" turn for a run out.
The day started very well for myself, Ray, Albee and Peter with fish coming to the boat almost immediately, we picked away steadily all morning with Peter landing the biggest fish, that being a fresh run Cod of approx 6lb.
It was blistering hot and the sea was like glass all morning but the bites suddenly dried up around lunchtime as if the fish had collectively switched off. We bobbed around a little longer before deciding to head home which turned out to be a good call because within minutes of heading for home the wind freshened from the East which stirred up the sea and it was quite a relief when we eventually turned into the Tyne between the piers.
We probably landed around 40+ fish again with most of them returned but we were reminded of how quickly conditions can change. I recall there was a couple of Yaks out there but I think they we heading back around the time or maybe just before we called it a day.
