Good to see Mark and yourself still finding the fish Dave. I like the look of the reel you have there. It looks very like the first reel I ever had. My dad bought it for me 50 year ago when I was nine. kind of a Scarborough type but it used to swivel 90 degrees for casting. Wish I still had it !!

Aye Trevor , its an alvey , this one doesn't swivel round to cast and is more of a centrepin scarborough type, great trouble free reel for the yak . I had the bigger alvey over 45 yr ago which was great for fishing heavy ground it swivelled around for casting . Think its still in the garage somewhere too big for the yak though as fish very light gear now.
Well there you go Dave, fancy being able to even recall the name of it, and then regpude says he still has one, amazing. But your right when you say that we fish much lighter gear now and the old Alvery was probably a bit heavy. That said I can remember going out boat fishing on a weekly bases at 16 years old and using it to effortlessly pump large Haddock up from the depths. Now I not only don't have the reel, but there seem to be no haddock either.
