    Ever thought about using barbless hooks? or am I just going soft in my old age

    Apologies have put this in the wrong section and dont know how to move it

    I use them all the time when spinning, most of the time fly fishing and rarely when bait fishing. Bait that isn't tied on tends to slip off the hook too easily but with a tight line, not many fish get away.
    It's much easier putting them back and they don't get left tethered or trailing a length of nylon if it snags or snaps.

      Yeah thanks for your response I think Im going to give it a go tying on bait and as you say making it easier to unhook the fish

            Save yourself a few Bob, by squashing the barbs as flat as you can, onto the hook. Still leaves a 'lump' to help keep the fish on, but comes out almost as easily as barbless when you take the fish off the hook.
            I've seen some lads use small wire cutters to snip the barb off the hook as well, but this still leaves a rough edge to it.
