Just a quick report today, and apologies, I took no photos this time.
Firstly, what a gorgeous day, and just happy to be out on the water. It was a leisurely start (so missed seeing you Graham at 06.00). Headed north to try several bits of rough ground around Alnmouth and Boulmer. Tide was moderate, but flowing well at the point. There were codling about, up to 2lb, and several coalies, but with my lad onboard again we figured the drift would be right to try some of the wrecks.
On the way, we stopped at Craster skeers. Same calibre of codling and coalies out there too, so we went on up further and tried several wrecks, hoping for some bigger specimens. In fact they got smaller, with one wreck producing a solitary pout!
We headed bit closer inshore and fished a couple of wrecks off Dunstaburgh. They were fairly productive in numbers of fish, but again, nothing of any great size.
With a smaller tide than last week, and with the inshore water fairly mucky due to the stronger winds end of last week, the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The week ahead looks amazing for anyone lucky enough to get out. So much better than last year. Unfortunately, I'll be away with work for the next week and will miss out on what promises to be yet another fishable weekend.
Be interested to hear how the competitions fished over the weekend.
