  • The Porpoise was to catch cod

With another decent forcast I headed down to the coast hoping for great things. Sure enough, from a distance the sea and the sun looked canny.

However, once I ventured past the harbour bar it turned out the sea was quite lumpy.

Nevertheless I allowed myself to drift north for about half a mile on the ebbing tide before deciding things were getting a little uncomfortable out there. On top of the fact there was no fish showing to temp me to stay.

Then, just as I arrived back on the flat calm waters of the harbour, a fin suddenly appeared which more warmed the cockles of my underpants never mind my heart!!

Thankfully it was no more sinister than a pod of what I presume to be Porpoises as they seemed smaller than the Dolphins I have seen before.

In truth they were great to see once the shock had gone. They kind of made up for my blank!

Just shows, from the shore, it can look fine, but as soon as you are past the piers, things look a bit different. Then it becomes apparent, it's a lonely place out there on your own..
Shame there were no fish, but great shots of the porpoises.
      Better luck next time.

Yes still closed. But now there are workmen on it everyday so hopefully whatever they are doing wont take too long.

Well Dave since my encounter, reports suggest there are plenty of them around at the moment, so it may not be long before you too are besieged by them. Mind you, I would suggest a pod of Porpoises or Dolphins is the one sure thing that will cause even you not to catch!!
Be careful what you wish for lol

That's nice to see them, did it make up for the slow fishing?

Yes it did Kev. Although as I say, at first I was not sure what was in the water. it gave me quite a start in truth. However, once I realised what it was I felt very privileged.
