I know the charter boats are still picking up fish when they manage to get out although I think they tend to promote their catches on Facebook because posting photographs is easier.
I was on the Earl of Zetland early this evening when the Kelsey Leigh skipper came in and apparently he had a decent day on the rough ground but his photos were posted on Facebook including a video of a seal grabbing a punters Cod as he brought it to the boat.
JFK had a good session last time out on the anchor with smelly bait and he's out again tomorrow so there's definitely fish about.
We're planning to give it a go on Monday and that maybe the last chance we'll get for a few days because they're forecasting Northerlies up to next weekend.

I was out on the JFK on Saturday 18th November. We were fishing the hard ground just off Souter Lighthouse.
We anchored up at around 8.00am and I had 4 pan sized cod in the basket by 8.30am…. that was then followed by my first Octopus ….this was safely returned.
Things went quiet so Allan decided to head up to St Mary's for the afternoon. All on board went home with something so all in all it wasn’t a bad day out.
I think the heaviest fish was around the 4lb mark.
Cheers
John

The weather has been scuppering me. All the days it has been possible to get out I have had something on. Next week looks a complete wipe out.
As soon as I get a chance I will be out and post before Black Betty is lifted out on the 18th of December.
Graham.

We were out on Shady on sat morn for a few hours
Didn’t expect much with the tide ebbing but a right turn at the pier end and the pick out at Souter and as soon as the boat settled the nibbles started not a bad morning weather wise and a few fish for the pan ,all cod today with 15 keepers to 4.5lb and about the same amount returned to fight another day

Up to now Saturday looks just about fishable with 10 to 12 mph North Westerlies and over a metre swell, Sunday is a tad more breezy with a little more West and a lot less swell so this weekend could be a two day window.
The sea will be very scruffy with all this rain and these Northerly winds so it's anchor time with smelly baits, extra warm clothes and hot drinks.
