Having just read Wasabi's account of wrecking, I wish I had bothered a bit harder, but the last couple of treks out to the wrecks had brought very little reward, so I mooched about inshore.
It was still an enjoyable trip, with plenty of codling around in the 2-3lb bracket as well as masses of smaller ones. The tide was so slow (0.2k) I ended up using a 15gm leadhead/jelly lure and with no other weight except the fish it made for quite a lot of fun. I hopped about a bunch of different reefs just south of Coquet Island. Some lovely coloured codling, straight out of the kelp. Plenty of Pollack around too. There were loads of mackerel, so used a couple as bait on hokkis and they worked well too. Shame it was peeing down for much of the time, but I was just happy to be afloat.
