Just a quick report for last Saturday.
Left Amble marina at 08.30 and quickly collected some mackerel off Coquet. Then headed off to various wrecks between 5 and 6 miles out. Strangely, most were quiet, without even the usual heavy mackerel presence that we usually get at this time of year. The codling that I did get were not massive either - between 3 and 4lb.
Conditions were lumpy at best, but bearable, with a 0.7 knot drift. Good water clarity too.
Dropped by the hard ground on the way back in, and while there were plenty of fish, they were all small. Last act of the day was to gather a few fresh mackerel for the BBQ, with some small Pollack attacking the feathers every time!
