Myself and Darren headed off to fish this years completion in memory of Bob White.
This year was the best ever entry with 159 anglers fishing.
We took a left turn for a change and headed north out of the piers at Amble.
First Mark was a blank but the second was a bit more fruitful until another boat joined us on it and buggered the drift up, hey ho it's a free sea!
We moved onto another mark and again were straight into fish with bait being the key. Not a single fish came to a shad which is the opposite of the rest of the season. Mackerel was the bait of choice.
Just after slack things hadn't picked up so we nipped up to Embleton bay to try for a flatty with no luck.
We tried the same marks on the way south to Amble and had a few more fish before trying behind the island and the for flatties in Warkworth bay with a bit more success! Two dabs at once a couple of times but nothing big enough to challenge for the heaviest flatty prize.
At the conclusion of the weigh in I came second overall with a ling and Darren just out if the top ten in 11th with his cod.
We had about 35 cod and ling between us in total and a cracking day afloat.
A very well organised completion for a great cause.
Sorry no photos as this photo bucket change has scuppered them! What's everyone using now to post photos???
Cheers,
Graham.
