Positioned just outside Roker harbour on Friday I drifted the flooding tide hoping for a repeat of my recent cod catches.
Sure enough it wasn't long before I had my first catch of the day, Not massive but decent enough to keep at a couple of pounds.
Then things took a down turn, firstly with this codling which unfortunately was under size.
Then the weather threatened and the wind picked up.
So much so that after a stint of having to paddle hard against it, I took refuge by tying up to a lobster pot marker for a while
Then I landed an even smaller tommy.
and another one
and another
In fact I ended up catching 6 of these juveniles. All of which were gently put back to fatten up for next year.
Thankfully I did end up with one more decent size cod for the plate.
Otherwise she would have had to have fish fingers lol.
