  • Who was the big smoothie on North Star today?

No guys it wasn't me with my pink crocs, but Steve with this chap!

After our drive down last night it was an 8am start out with Skipper Jim on North Star. A great bunch of lads onboard today, with the chat excellent, unfortunately the fishing was not quite so good. Jim covered over 30 odd miles today looking for the fish, but they proved difficult to find.

It was great to be out on such a beautifully sunny day, which started with a wee breeze, but soon died down and the sea was calm by lunctime.

A good few species came to the deck today - the Smoothound, Whiting, Pouting, Gurnard ,a Cod and a couple of Ling...........oh and a Lobster!

Nothing keepable for Lynn and I, so we were a bit disappointed, but that's fishing! Out of South Shields tomorrow, so keeping the faith for the morning.

As always, Jim did the business and kept us all happy. North Star is a lovely big boat with a spacious wheelhouse and as Lynn said "the nicest toilet in the North East! Praise indeed Jim!!

Will be back out with Jim on Wednesday, if the weather holds.

Congrats to Steve for his smoothound and Wayne for his Cod and Lobster..........supper at your house tonight mate?

I didn't risk taking my new digital camera today, as I only got it last night and am still trying to figure out how to work it

Great pics Mark , shame about the fish not playing ball, but as long as you had a good day, thats the main thing
Rob always says North Stars toilet is big enough to fit 2 in......dunno what he means by that though...

Cheers Easyfish its always nice to know where the reports are coming from. I think we all sometimes just assume we know where each boat is from, and sometimes some of us don't even recognise reports from boats out of the same port

                  Easyfish, watch that space........

Starry's were a common catch from the Pool many years ago, they are coming up the coast with catches from the shore along the Withernsea coast for a few years now.
nice fish and a pleasant surprise for the party I bet.

Glad you all had a nice day, the network was jammed with texts throughout the day....cheers.................swines............

Good report on a pleasant day out. Nice to see a smoothie in the catch report.
Hope You and Lynn have a more fruitful day out the Tyne on Sunday. Don't know why the wreck fishing drops off so noticeably by October

                        October...you mean June this year

Yer it seems that the pool boats doing well on the ground but the wrecks are not far short of being dead

Nice report good to see a hound..with rays dogfish and that showing is it a sign of the cod numbers so low other species have a chance to fill the void or they are just moving down the coast.

Paul maybe you should change the name, the dictionary definition of Phanton is.....Something apparently seen, heard, or sensed, but having no physical reality;...........

Having no physical reality could mean unused.....
