  • Pleasant Company off Blyth

Cracking conditions early this morning so I launched from the hole in the wall at 0530hrs and it was like a millpond

So off I went to one of the wrecks with a cuppa in me hand and a tab perks of the hobie and I noticed a large fin breaking water about 200 metres to the left then more fins ! I was getting closed in by a large pod of porpoises so out came the camera and they came pretty close and it was a fantastic sight to be up close and personal with these

and 2 even went directly underneath the yak which was an awsome sight hoping that they wouldnt hit my fin otherwise I'd be joining them

So they stayed with me all the way to the wreck but they just stayed around hoping for some free scoff but after an hour ! out popped a seal and off they went but then this bugger wouldnt go away so this delayed the fishing for quite awhile.

Quite some time later I finally started fishing but he popped up to be nosey every now and then but the fishing was dire to say the least, had a few takes but couldnt connect but got a consolation prize on my last drop with a small cod for the effort

Not a great morning fishing but the company was great and its not often you'll come across a large pod like that up close but they made up for a poor morning but it was great to be out.

    Steve

lol, anything is possible at the moment as there was a porbeagle caught in the nets last week but they have always been not far off as we used to catch them by mistake in the nets in the early 80,s ... Horrible way for a great creature to go tho..

Was pulling in the carpark as you were launching Steve but the time I got ready I could not see the direction you went so I went around the back of cambois pier thinking you went there but never caught sight of you till I went to the kamma. My fishing was sh1t only small codling and coalfish, never mind the flat sea made up for it.
Had a couple from st. Mary's thurs night that made up for it.
                      Tight lines!
                      Just add water!
